Here’s the truth…
Being a female entrepreneur and turning your ideas into a reality are like going for a long walk into the dark… you feel scared, lonely, there are ups and downs, no clue of what’s coming next, but all the while you feel exhilarated, it’s exciting. You are smiling, even though on the inside you are thinking ‘what the hell am I doing!?’
I think we all feel like this at some point.
We must just stay focused on what we are trying to achieve, learn as much as we can, get inspired, build a network of support around ourselves, keep going, and keep the faith. As a women entrepreneur I want to share my story, in fact, this is my story…...
Redefine success on your own terms
With the education degree as a beautician, married at a young age to a hard-working and smart man, becoming a mother, and then moving to Indiana, The USA in 2006 with adolescent daughter and husband was tough. My first job was working at a motel, work was challenging, and pay was less often tears would roll out but as I was taught to work harder, smarter, and save money. Learning was an important aspect of my life. I was loving the job as I could talk to customers and improve my communication skills and make new connections with the customers.
Don't Discount Baby Steps
One of the motel's customers offered me a job at his parlor after I told him about my education and expertise as a beautician. Few months down the lane I encouraged him to start the parlor as a franchise and brought the rights for the first franchise from him, eventually, my franchise a store named Seva beauty parlor at Walmart went on to become the highest revenue generator for the Corporate office. In 2014 after running it for successfully I sold the store for a lucrative deal.
When you start is important than how you start
By 2014 I can say life was good, had one son and two daughters. I was financially secure and was successful with my entrepreneurial skills. One evening while driving in Fishers, Indiana I noticed business was for sale. I contacted the owners and immediately decided to takeover. I made some changes to the business model and brought in my ideas and renamed the business to “Sai Collections & EYEBROWS” an Indian boutique and eyebrow store.
A Desire to learn has no age limit
My customers at the store are from various ethnic backgrounds. Over time I noticed irrespective of nationalities and gender people would often like to bargain at the store. I started thinking if I could come up with a web platform where all the customers can ask for the price that they like to offer. But to accomplish that first I had to learn about the E-Commerce business model. I started writing the business strategy, officially the plan was put on paper in the year 2017. Often, I would talk to my customers about the latest technologies, Java, PHP, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence. I started looking for information over the internet and Artificial Intelligence was becoming more and more interesting and obsession.
Planning, Planning, Planning...
Finally, in 2019 plans were out into actions and liketobargain.com was born in my store. It started growing, the team has grown. Sleeping for less than 5 hours has become a new normal.
